Frequently asked questions

How do I make Monobreath start recording automatically in the water?+

On your Apple Watch, open Settings → General → Auto-Launch → When Submerged, and select Monobreath. From then on, when your wrist enters the water the app launches and records on its own — no tapping. You can also bind it to the Action Button on Apple Watch Ultra.

Why does it only record to about 6 metres?+

Version 1.0 ships with Apple's self-serve shallow depth entitlement (up to ~6 m). Full freediving depth (to ~40 m) requires an additional Apple approval, which is in progress and will arrive as a free update.

Is Monobreath a dive computer?+

No. Monobreath is a training log and apnea trainer. It does not calculate decompression and cannot prevent blackout. Never freedive alone — your safety depends on your training, your buddy and your judgement.

Where is my data stored?+

Entirely on your iPhone and Apple Watch. There are no accounts, no servers and no tracking. You can export your full log as JSON or CSV, or delete everything, from within the app at any time.

Do I need an Apple Watch?+

Auto-recording, live depth and heart rate need an Apple Watch Ultra. The apnea trainer (CO₂/O₂ tables and static holds), the dive log and the dive map work on iPhone too.

How do I change units, alerts or safety reminders?+

Open the More tab on iPhone (or Settings on the watch) to switch metres/feet and °C/°F, set your target depth and ascent alert, and toggle haptics and safety reminders. Settings sync between your iPhone and watch.

A note on safety

Monobreath is a training log, not a dive computer, and cannot prevent blackout. Never freedive alone. Your safety depends on your training, your buddy and your judgement.
